Journey to Diapers & Bottles

Are we there yet?!

I called the doctor’s office and let them know what day my cycle started on. They needed to know the specific day in order to schedule my ultrasound. This will tell them if I have any eggs to fertilize…the eggs grow inside a follicle.

The day was scheduled! April 20th is the day for the ultrasound to see what I have going on. Twelve long days…what was I going to do?

You may be thinking, doesn’t this chick have a job? Well, I left my 9-5 job when I went back to school. Then my dad passed away right when I graduated. So now, I am taking time for “Leah” and this includes having BAAAAAAAAABIES!!

Those twelve days went fast! I have a couple of pretty amazing friends and my church calling to keep me busy. We canned jam, made aprons, went for hot chocolate, conducted visiting teaching interviews, my mom came and spent the night one evening, got my hair cut, and also attended a Relief Society activity – Retro Rad Homemaking – it was so fun.

Side note – have you ever googled the 1950’s housewife? It will give you the giggles if you do. Dooooooooo eeetttttt – right now! Wellllllll, maybe after you read this post 🙂

David may or may not have glimpsed at what I was reading and said he will wait to see me in pearls and a skirt – *insert eye roll*

April 20th had finally arrived! We had to be there at 8:30, but in true Leah fashion, we were there by 8! I didn’t want to go in that early, so we said a prayer in the car then made our way to the appointment.

I love having things that remind me of hope and staying “positive”. I saw these cute socks on Etsy and HAD to have them!

Aren’t they just so clever 🙂 I don’t know what it was, but mentally I felt ready to rock that ultrasound!  — I’m pretty sure it was the fabulous socks.

After this photo was taken, David started to get nervous. He asked if he could leave. I laughed, because I knew that he really didn’t want to leave. I told him nope! You are in this with me, buddy!

The doctor and a tech came in the room. The lights dimmed and before I knew it, we were looking at a screen. I just kind of squinted my eyes and had no idea what I was looking at. He said that my right ovary had some “nice activity”.

Hmmmmmm….”Nice activity” – what in the world did that mean!? Of course, in the midst of nerves and having this pelvic ultrasound – I didn’t even ask what that meant.

He moved over to the left ovary and had me push down on my stomach. David was sweet and snapped this picture of the monitor.

The doctor pointed out that there was a nice big follicle there. Apparently I should have went to school for this because I was having a hard time telling what anything was!

Because of my difficulties seeing what in the world he was talking about, I had him show me on the screen. He had some cursors where the red circle is in the above picture. Woohoo – follicles! Eye on the prize! I got dressed and we were on our way to checkout.

The tech at the checkout talked about the shot. Oh you know, the shot that WE would be administering at home —– THAT NIGHT!?!?!

Yes, you read that right. Some people may read that and think – no big deal. Others may read that and have the same reaction that I did. ——– Oh my word!

We took our paperwork and went on our way. On our drive home, we giggled about who would be giving the shot.

Be sure to check out the next post and don’t miss out on who ended up administering the shot and how our actual appointment went!

Until then,

Leah
